We use quantitative and qualitative methods to study how thinking, motivation and behavior change across time.<\/p>\n<p>We study how different social settings,\u00a0such as\u00a0classroom, family, work and peers, affect people&#8217;s well-being, learning and behavior. The study of educational psychology is relevant to teachers, coaches, athletes, nurses, counselors, software developers, trainers, social workers, program evaluators and administrators.<\/p>\n<p>Educational psychologists attempt to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Measure human learning and behavior;<\/li>\n<li>Improve learning and motivation;<\/li>\n<li>Understand how human development influences learning and well-being;<\/li>\n<li>Understand how society influences learning and behavior;<\/li>\n<li>Understand how what happens in school affects students\u2019 development in other settings.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Recent graduates (since 2005) in educational psychology are employed at the following institutions:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>University of Central Florida<\/li>\n<li>Indiana University Center for Postsecondary Research<\/li>\n<li>Northeastern Illinois University<\/li>\n<li>University of Missouri<\/li>\n<li>University of Missouri-Kansas City<\/li>\n<li>Borough of Manhattan Community College<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Some students acquire internships at ETS and ACT.<\/p>\n<h3>Degrees<\/h3>\n<p>Degrees are in <strong>educational, school and counseling psychology<\/strong> with an emphasis in <strong>educational psychology<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/cehd.missouri.edu\/degree\/educational-psychology-ma\/\">Master of arts (MA)<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/cehd.missouri.edu\/degree\/educational-psychology-med\/\">Master of education (M Ed)<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/cehd.missouri.edu\/degree\/educational-psychology-phd\/\">Doctor of philosophy (PhD)<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/mailmissouri.sharepoint.com\/:b:\/s\/MUCEDUCStrategicCommunications-Ogrp\/EQAbGAaZIUFQ41UWimd2awAB11aftZuh9eOOu8LMcbwfxA\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Master&#8217;s planner<\/a><br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/mailmissouri.sharepoint.com\/:b:\/s\/MUCEDUCStrategicCommunications-Ogrp\/EQRLiXp264hUE5n3agUfDAsBTLnAQFis99kMpr8vM1SyUA\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Doctoral planner<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The educational psychology program is committed to disseminating and developing knowledge and skills in human learning and cognition, development and motivation.
