LTC\u2019s faculty members, many of whom are internationally recognized for their high-impact research, are committed to preparing <a href=\"https:\/\/mailmissouri.sharepoint.com\/:b:\/s\/MUCEDUCStrategicCommunications-Ogrp\/EbQ1TlI7ml9HpTmUqb7zRfwBrRCfNK2pwZPuVQ3iPiaq8w?e=t3w4rE\">culturally competent<\/a> teachers, teacher educators, and educational researchers.<\/p>\n<p>Professionals interested in advancing their careers in education practices and research with LTC can specialize in a variety of disciplines (e.g., Math Education, Science Education, Social Studies Education, Elementary Education).<\/p>\n<h3>Tradition of Excellence<\/h3>\n<p>In the early 1900s, Mark Twain accepted an honorary degree from MU on the steps of Jesse Hall. In the 1950s and &#8217;60s, A. Sterl Artley, a\u00a0College of Education\u00a0graduate and then professor, helped an entire generation of students learn to read through his work on the <em>Dick and Jane<\/em> book series.<\/p>\n<p>Today, our department continues this tradition of excellence in addressing pressing issues for children, educators and citizens. Our projects and centers focus on improving life for learners in all environments.<\/p>\n<p>Our graduates go on to become some of the most successful and best-prepared classroom teachers.
