Dr. Loren Bauerband is an assistant professor in the Counseling Psychology program. They earned their Ph.D. in Behavioral Science from the University of Rhode Island in 2017. Before joining the faculty in counseling psychology, they were a Preparing Future Faculty for Faculty Diversity (PFFFD) Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Missouri in the Department of Health Sciences. Their research broadly focuses on mental health and well-being of transgender and nonbinary (TGNB) individuals, with a particular interest in understanding factors that impact identity processing. Additional interest areas include stress and trauma, body-mind awareness, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) processes as they relate to minority stress.
Dr. Bauerband will be accepting new doctoral students in the Counseling Psychology program for the 2024-2025 school year.
