Welcome to the University of Missouri College of Education & Human Development.
Whether you are considering the College of Education & Human Development (CEHD) as your college home, looking to reconnect with your alma mater, seeking a research or community partner, or simply interested in the work happening across our college, we are glad you are here.
We are proud to build on a remarkable history. In 1867, Mizzou became one of the first public universities in the nation to establish a college dedicated to preparing teachers. Today, CEHD has grown from those roots to encompass a broad range of disciplines focused on education and human development. We are a community of educators, researchers, students, staff, alumni and partners who share a common purpose: improving lives and strengthening communities through education, research, service and engagement. Across our departments and programs, our faculty and students are preparing the next generation of educators, leaders and health professionals; advancing knowledge that informs practice and policy; and working alongside communities to address challenges and create opportunities.
Our impact extends well beyond our campus in Columbia. CEHD’s work reaches schools, families, organizations and communities across Missouri, throughout the nation and around the world. Our alumni carry the knowledge and experiences they gained at Mizzou into classrooms, organizations, professions and communities, extending the reach of our college in countless ways.
As part of the University of Missouri, CEHD is also part of something larger. Mizzou is Missouri’s flagship public research university and a land-grant institution, an AAU member and R1 research university, and a proud member of the Southeastern Conference. This distinctive combination gives our students access to the resources and opportunities of a major research institution while connecting our work to the needs of the people and communities we serve.
For generations, CEHD graduates have gone on to shape classrooms, schools, families, organizations and communities. Today, we are building on that legacy while responding to a rapidly changing world and the evolving needs of the people we serve.
If you are a prospective student, we invite you to explore our programs, meet our faculty and students, and imagine CEHD as your college home — a place where you can discover your purpose, develop your expertise and prepare to make a difference.
If you are an alum, we invite you to stay connected, share your experiences and continue to be part of the CEHD community. Your accomplishments are part of our story, and your continued engagement helps shape our future.
If you are a researcher, educator, community organization, school, policymaker or other partner, we invite you to connect with us. Our greatest impact often happens when we bring our expertise together with the knowledge, experiences and needs of the communities we serve.
If you simply want to learn more about the people and ideas shaping education and human development, we invite you to explore all that CEHD has to offer.
There is much to envision for the future of our college and much to accomplish. We look forward to welcoming you into the CEHD community and to shaping that future together.
Sincerely,
