Human Development and Family Science (MA/JD or MS/JD)

The College of Education & Human Development’s Department of Human Development & Family Science (HDFS) and the School of Law offer a dual-degree program that allows students to earn both a master’s degree in Human Development & Family Science and a Juris Doctor (JD). Through an interdisciplinary curriculum, students develop the knowledge and skills needed to navigate legal systems, translate research into practice and advocate for children, youth and families.

By integrating coursework from both programs, students can complete degrees that typically require five years of study in approximately four years. Graduates earn a JD from the School of Law and either a Master of Arts (MA) or Master of Science (MS) in Human Development & Family Science, preparing them for careers at the intersection of law, policy, research and human services.
