SchoolLink Family Support Specialist (Part-Time)

Job Description

  • Analyze requests related to concerns of school professionals and based on analysis, provide appropriate problem-solving support, research-based information, and referrals to services.  Offer services through a variety of mediums including but not limited to telephone, social media such as Facebook and Twitter, e-mail, texting, and in-person. 
  • Complete data intake and entry for each inquiry in a timely manner.
  • Stay apprised of the research on best practices in school-based mental health through ongoing training.
  • Work with professionals across the state to coordinate services for families.
  • Conduct follow-up on cases in targeted communities to ensure that each school professional served was able to connect to resources provided and if additional action is needed. Identify gaps in services and barriers to receiving services, documenting in an online system.
  • Continually review and make recommendations to SchoolLink Policy & Procedures as relates to best practices.
  • Offer referrals to complementary resources for appropriate supports (e.g., 988, ParentLink, TEL-LINK).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in school counseling, behavioral health, social work, education, health administration, or related field.
  • School-based professional experience, preferably as a school-employed professional in school-based mental health (e.g., School Counselor, School Nurse, School Social Worker, School Psychologist)

SchoolLink Statewide Navigator (Part-Time)

Job Description

  • Following protocol, professional standards, and best practices, interact with each school professional to:
    • Identify needs/concerns in obtaining a resource.
    • Assist professionals in overcoming barriers, by:
    • helping complete paperwork, phone calls, emails, etc.,
    • Support school professional in effectively communicating with other stakeholders (children, families, colleagues, etc.) by brokering/simplifying language as needed to ensure that families are able to fully access the information about resources.
  • Actively engage with local, regional, and state resources in education, behavioral health, and health to identify areas of need and resources that will assist school professionals and the school community members they serve.
  • Use ParentLink WarmLine to assist in research and consultation with caregivers, as needed.
  • Maintain data on client, recording such elements as:  Client description; Client need; Action taken; Referrals made; Follow-up provided, Etc.
  • Maintain data on community resources: Identify barriers to services, Identify gaps in services, Update community resource information in iCarol resource database
  • Prepare and submit reports as requested
  • Participate in ParentLink and other trainings to strengthen skills as a Navigator
  • Work with school professionals and other stakeholders from a strength’s perspective; help school professionals to feel empowered, speak up, and articulate their concerns and needs; work with the school professional to identify strengths and clarify the concerns and challenges; provide emotional support to school professionals; honor and respect every person; encounter each school professional with compassion; approach individuals in the spirit of collaboration; serve with integrity and excellence

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in social work, Child and Family Development, Counseling, Health Administration, or related area.
  • School-based experience
  • Credentialed Community Health Worker, or willingness to become credentialed.
  • Knowledge and experience in Microsoft Word and Excel; ability to learn new software programs and resource data management systems.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
