Karen Van Cleave

Karen Van Cleave is a dedicated Special Education and Deaf/Hard of Hearing educator with extensive experience helping students develop the academic, social, communication, and employment skills needed for successful transitions into adulthood.  With a Master of Arts in Deaf Education, American Sign Language Interpreter certification, and decades of experience in education, Karen is passionate about empowering students to reach their full potential through individualized, strength-based support.  Karen is committed to fostering independence, confidence, and self- determination while ensuring students have the tools and support necessary to succeed in school, the workplace, and their communities.  Her collaborative approach, strong communication skills, and dedication to accessibility make her an effective advocate for students as they prepare for life beyond high school.

Karen serves students in the following schools in Lee’s Summit:  High, North, Summit Ridge, and West.

She also serves Deaf/Hard of Hearing students in the following schools:  Blue Springs, Fort Osage, Independence, KCPS Paseo, Liberty North, North Kansas City, Park Hill, Platte County, and Worth County.
