Thom Alvarez

Thom Alvarez brings nearly 30 years of leadership experience in education, having served as Principal of Maryville High School since 2014, following seven years as Assistant Principal and six years as a teacher in social studies and physical education. Throughout his career, he has been committed to student success, staff development, and continuous school improvement. Thom has also served in leadership roles with the Missouri Association of Secondary School Principals and the Missouri State High School Activities Association. Thom holds a Bachelor of Science in History, a Master of Science in Education in Secondary Administration, and a Specialist in Education degree in Superintendent Leadership from Northwest Missouri State University. He is currently completing his Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) in Educational Leadership, with anticipated completion in 2026. Outside of his professional life, Thomas enjoys spending time with his wife, Teri, and their three children, Josh, Jackson, and Lola. They are also proud grandparents of Gabriel and Titus. Family remains at the center of Thomas’s life and serves as a constant source of inspiration in both his personal and professional endeavors.

Thom serves students in the following school districts: Albany, De Kalb, East Buchanan, Jefferson C123, King City, Maryville, Maysville, Mid Buchanan, North Platte, Stanberry, Stewartsville, Union Star, and Worth County.
