Katy Smith

Dr. Katy Smith is an Assistant Extension Professor with a joint appointment in the School of Information Science and Learning Technologies and the University of Missouri Extension. With over 25 years of professional experience in libraries, Dr. Smith has served in a variety of library positions including health sciences librarian, school library director, public library branch manager, and reference and instruction library faculty. Her work in libraries began much earlier, though, with a “helper” designation in her primary school library, a page position during high school, and a stint as a bookmobile driver/library assistant. Denice Adkins

Dr. Denice Adkins is professor and director of the School of Information Science & Learning Technologies, University of Missouri. She earned her MLS in 1994 and her Ph.D. in 2000 from the University of Arizona. Her research interests include public libraries, services to the Latinx community and other underserved populations, reader advisory research, and youth services. Prior to her academic career, Dr. Adkins was a public librarian serving diverse communities in the southwestern United States.
