Through a scientist-practitioner approach, students develop expertise in psychological assessment, intervention, consultation, research and professional practice while working closely with experienced faculty mentors.
Accredited by the American Psychological Association since 1953, the program has a long history of preparing graduates for careers in higher education, healthcare systems, community agencies, private practice and other professional settings. Students engage in rigorous coursework, supervised clinical experiences and research opportunities designed to build competence across the broad range of responsibilities expected of professional psychologists.
The program emphasizes ethical practice, professional development, evidence-based decision-making and lifelong learning. Through close faculty mentorship and extensive practical experience, students develop the knowledge, skills and professional judgment necessary to serve clients and communities effectively throughout their careers.
School Psychology
The School Psychology doctoral program prepares students to become leaders in the field through advanced training in assessment, intervention, consultation, research and systems-level problem solving. Grounded in a scientist-practitioner model, the program equips students with the knowledge and skills needed to promote academic, behavioral and mental health outcomes for children and adolescents in educational and community settings.
Accredited by the American Psychological Association since 1999, the program combines rigorous coursework with extensive supervised field experiences and research training. Students learn to apply psychological principles to support students, families, educators and schools while developing expertise in data-based decision-making and evidence-based practice.
Faculty work closely with students to support professional growth, research productivity and career development. Graduates are prepared for careers in schools, universities, healthcare organizations, research settings and other professional environments where they can make meaningful contributions to the well-being and success of children and youth.
