The Office of Global Engagement helps students, faculty and partners connect with the world through international learning, collaboration and engagement. By fostering meaningful global experiences, the office supports the preparation of educators, leaders, researchers and professionals who can thrive in an interconnected and rapidly changing world.
Through education abroad programs, international partnerships, intercultural learning opportunities and support for international students and scholars, Global Engagement creates opportunities for personal growth, professional development and cross-cultural understanding. These experiences help participants develop valuable skills such as adaptability, communication, leadership and global awareness while building meaningful connections across cultures and communities.
Study & Teach Abroad
Education abroad experiences allow students to learn beyond the classroom while gaining firsthand exposure to different cultures, educational systems and communities around the world. Whether studying, teaching or participating in faculty-led programs, students engage in transformative experiences that enhance their academic preparation and help them develop skills that are increasingly valued by employers and graduate programs.
In collaboration with the International Programs office and partners around the world, the College of Education & Human Development offers culturally immersive learning and professional development opportunities across a variety of global settings. Students can earn academic credit, gain hands-on experience and deepen their understanding of global perspectives while preparing for careers in an increasingly interconnected world.

Supporting International Students & Scholars
International students and scholars are an important part of the College of Education & Human Development community. Global Engagement works to foster connections, provide support and create opportunities for engagement that help students and scholars build meaningful relationships and feel connected to Mizzou.
Through campus programming, student organizations and collaborative initiatives, the office helps create opportunities for students from around the world to connect with one another, engage with the college community and enrich the educational experience for all.
International Careers
Each year, some students choose to begin their careers abroad, and many alumni have built successful careers teaching in international settings around the world. Global Engagement helps students and alumni explore international teaching positions, education-related careers and competitive fellowship opportunities, including programs such as the Fulbright English Teaching Assistantship. International Partnerships
Global Engagement fosters collaborative partnerships with universities, schools and organizations around the world. These relationships support joint research, academic exchange, professional learning and other initiatives that enrich teaching, scholarship and global understanding.
The college’s longstanding partnerships, including those with the University of the Western Cape in South Africa and Prince of Songkla University in Thailand, exemplify its commitment to building meaningful international connections that create opportunities for students, faculty and educational communities.

The office supports international research collaborations, faculty exchanges, global conferences, guest lectures and other initiatives that expand the reach and impact of the college’s teaching, research and service mission.
