College of Education & Human Development programs earn top rankings

The University of Missouri College of Education & Human Development is ranked among the nation’s top online graduate education programs, according to the 2026 Best Online Programs rankings released by U.S. News & World Report.

The college ranked No. 36 overall among online graduate education programs, placing it among a competitive group of institutions recognized for delivering high-quality, flexible graduate education. The ranking reflects the college’s strength in supporting student engagement, instructional quality, faculty credentials and online learning infrastructure.

The College of Education & Human Development also ranked No. 15 among the best online master’s in education programs for veterans, highlighting its commitment to serving military-connected students through accessible programs, strong student support services and flexible learning options.

Several specialty areas within the college earned strong national recognition. The college ranked No. 12 for special education online master’s programs, reflecting its long-standing focus on preparing professionals to support individuals with diverse learning needs across a range of educational and community settings. Programs in this area emphasize evidence-based practices, inclusive learning environments and support across the lifespan.

The college also ranked No. 16 for educational administration and supervision, recognizing programs that prepare current and aspiring leaders for roles in schools, districts and other educational organizations. These programs focus on leadership development, organizational management and decision-making that supports student and institutional success.

The U.S. News rankings evaluate online graduate programs based on factors such as student engagement, faculty credentials and training, student services and technology, and peer reputation. Programs included in the rankings are designed to support working professionals and graduate students seeking flexible, high-quality learning experiences.
