Dissertation and Abstract

Melissa Orr is a K-12 Math Consultant for the Heart of Missouri RPDC. Recently retired after teaching twenty-eight years in kindergarten through third-grade elementary classrooms, Melissa brings many strategies to educate young children. She holds a master’s degree in curriculum and instruction and national board certification in elementary education. As an instructional leader, she strived to set learning goals yearly to increase student achievement, including leading her district in using technology in the classrooms throughout the day.

Joining the math consultants team, Melissa will be available to provide training in both small and large group settings focusing on the areas of math fluency, using math curriculum documents to improve math instruction, number talks, building thinking classrooms, using cooperative learning structures to reach all students, as well as other topics. Melissa is excited to be a part of the math team and looks forward to working with the Heart of Missouri regional schools providing free on-site math professional development.
