Stephanie Walter is the Director of Teaching and Learning at Mizzou Academy, part of the University of Missouri-Columbia. With over 30 years of experience, she is passionate about helping students build confidence, discover their strengths, and take ownership of their learning in a variety of educational settings, including public, private, and blended classrooms.

Stephanie earned her Bachelor of Science in Secondary Language Arts Education from the University of Missouri and her Master’s in Creative Arts in Education from Lesley University. Her expertise includes English Language Arts, curriculum design, the writing process, new teacher orientation and mentoring, and providing meaningful feedback to support growth for both students and educators.

At Mizzou Academy, Stephanie collaborates with an exceptional team to develop engaging curriculum, support lead teachers, and partner with educators worldwide. She is dedicated to putting students first and promoting best practices in online and blended learning environments. Stephanie has co-authored more than 20 online and blended courses and has led professional development workshops internationally. She is also the co-author of Connected Classrooms (2022), a book focused on fostering culture and connection in blended learning spaces. In 2024, she was honored with the College of Education and Human Development’s Outstanding Engagement and Outreach award, recognizing her significant contributions to the college, her colleagues, and the broader educational community.

Outside of her professional work, Stephanie enjoys hiking, reading books, and spending quality time with her family—including their Boxer, Tate R. Tot. She looks forward to continuing her leadership in education, curriculum innovation, and advocacy for connected, student-centered learning both locally and globally.
