The Missouri Writing Project (MWP) is part of the National Writing Project, a network of more than 200 sites throughout the country whose members dedicate themselves to improving the teaching and learning of writing. As one of the earliest sites in the nation, the MWP conducted its first Summer Invitational Institute in 1977. The MWP offers a variety of courses and prepares teachers to serve as curriculum leaders. It is one of five writing project sites within the state of Missouri.
