Carmel Shaka serves as Mizzou Academy’s editor. She holds a BA in Communications from The American University of Rome and an MS in Publishing & Digital Media from New York University. Carmel has interned at various publishing departments and companies, including literary agencies, contract departments, and educational publishers. She has worked in the editorial department at Grand Central Publishing, an imprint of Hachette Book Group, and she has collaborated with fiction and nonfiction authors, undergraduate and graduate students, and other publishing industry professionals. She specializes in adopting the author’s original voice while polishing written work to best fit the intended audience. She is passionate about education that caters to various learning types, learning abilities, students, and all things books.
