Carmel serves as Mizzou Academy’s first Editor. She holds a BA in Communications from The American University of Rome, and an MS in Publishing & Digital Media from New York University. Throughout her time as a professional, she has interned a various publishing departments and companies—from literary agencies to contract departments and including educational publishers—and worked in the Editorial department at Grand Central Publishing, an imprint of Hachette Book Group. She has worked with fiction and nonfiction authors, undergraduate and graduate students, and other publishing industry professionals.

Carmel is trained in business writing in addition to academic and creative writing. She specializes in the ability to adopt the voice of the original author while polishing written work to best fit the intended audience. She is passionate about education that caters to various learning types, learning abilities, and students, and all things books.
