Lisa DeCastro serves as the Elementary Coordinator at Mizzou Academy. Ms. DeCastro previously taught and learned with kindergarten and first graders in Oakland, California. As a teacher, she enjoys using cooking, gardening, sports, and art to support students as readers, writers, mathematicians, scientists, and kind human beings. She also has great appreciation for classroom pets for their ability to foster kindness, caring, and empathy with students. Ms. DeCastro lives in California with her family and enjoys being outdoors and in the backyard garden.
Ms. DeCastro currently leads the writing for the early elementary curriculum at Mizzou Academy, provides support for teachers, and helps expand the elementary program. A significant upcoming project she is excited about in elementary is writing additional units that focus on diversity and culturally-relevant topics for our youngest Mizzou Tigers.

- As a native English speaker, Ms. Decastro enjoys improving her Spanish and learning Portuguese from our Brazilian teachers and students.
