Matt Brooks is a Missouri Leadership Development System specialist for the Heart of Missouri.

A retired secondary school teacher, coach, assistant principal, and principal, Matt holds a bachelor’s degree in social studies education from Central Methodist University, and a master’s in K-12 administration from the William Woods University. Over 28 years, Matt served as a social studies teacher and coach in three districts, including the last 18 years of his career in public education serving the Wright City R-2 school district.
   
As Missouri Leadership Development System specialists, the team provides a true system of support for our education leaders from Aspiring to Transformational levels. The team presents the MLDS content and Coaching Labs in regional cohorts, as well as in district-led professional development initiatives. Through the work of MLDS, paid mentors can also be provided for the newest administrators in the Heart of Missouri region.
   
The MLDS content covers topics of Critical Firsts, Instructional Leadership, Understanding Self and Others, Decision- Making, School Culture, Time Management, Leading Change, Communication, Human Resource Development and Leadership Systems. The MLDS content is co-authored with Mike Rutherford, who provides all MLDS specialists with facilitation skills to share with leaders.
