Scott Salmons

Scott Salmons is a Schoolwide Positive Behavior Support and Custom PD Specialist for the Heart of Missouri Regional Professional Development Center at the University of Missouri-Columbia.

Scott has 31 years of experience working within the K-12 framework – 6 as a teacher and 25 as an administrator. Scott completed his bachelor’s degree in elementary education through coursework at Westminster College and Lincoln University. He has a master’s degree from Lincoln University in Elementary Administration, and an Educational Specialist degree from the University of Missouri in Educational Leadership and Policy Analysis. Scott spent 21 years with the Jefferson City School District as a middle school classroom teacher and elementary principal. He also served as an elementary principal for 10 years in the South Callaway and Southern Boone School Districts. Scott has also previously worked as an adjunct instructor at Columbia College teaching courses in Classroom Management.

As a part of SWPBS, Scott provides large group training and small group coaching to schools and districts in the framework for creating safe & orderly learning environments in schools while improving the social-emotional outcomes for students. This work relies on research-based practices including developing clear, behavioral expectations, teaching those expectations, acknowledging appropriate behavior, consistently correcting inappropriate behavior, and using behavioral data to systemically solve problems.
