Katy Smith
- Assistant Extension Professor
Dr. Katy Smith is an Assistant Extension Professor with a joint appointment in the School of Information Science and Learning Technologies and the University of Missouri Extension. With over 25 years of professional experience in libraries, Dr. Smith has served in a variety of library positions including health sciences librarian, school library director, public library branch manager, and reference and instruction library faculty. Her work in libraries began much earlier, though, with a “helper” designation in her primary school library, a page position during high school, and a stint as a bookmobile driver/library assistant.
Dr. Smith earned her PhD in Information Science and Learning Technologies (2016) and her MA in IS< [now the MLIS] (2001) from Mizzou; her BS included a dual major in Historic Preservation and American Studies with a minor in Art History from Southeast Missouri State University.
