Joi L. Moore

Dr. Joi L. Moore serves as the Associate Dean of Engagement and Outreach in the College of Education and as a Professor in the School of Information Science & Learning Technologies at the University of Missouri.  Also, she is a faculty member in the MU Institute for Data Science & Informatics and an Affiliated Faculty in the Black Studies Department. 

Dr. Moore received two degrees from North Carolina State University: B.S. in Computer Science and M.S. in Management focusing on Management Information Systems. After teaching in the Department of Computer Information Systems at Shaw University, Dr. Moore earned her Ph.D. in Instructional Technology from the University of Georgia, emphasizing Management Information Systems. She is a subject matter expert in Instructional Design, E-Learning, and Usability, offering over 20 years of experience in creating instructional and training materials and various digital media forms. 

Dr. Moore’s professional service includes Past President for the Minorities in Media Affiliate and the Training and Performance Division of the Association for Educational Communications and Technology (AECT). In March 2022, she was voted President-Elect for AECT, and currently serves as the President.

Dr. Moore is a Golden Life Member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated, and has numerous chapter, regional, and national leadership experiences.
