Tyler Smith

Tyler E. Smith is an Assistant Professor of School Psychology in the Department of Educational, School, and Counseling Psychology. He earned his PhD in school psychology from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and completed a postdoctoral fellowship through the Institute of Education Sciences Interdisciplinary Research and Training Program in the department of Educational, School & Counseling Psychology. His research primarily focuses on parent involvement in education, family-school partnerships, school consultation, rural school mental health, and effective school-based interventions. Further, his methodological interests focus on conducting meta-analysis and systematic reviews within the fields of education and psychology. Tyler currently serves as the Principal Investigator for an IES-funded Development and Innovation grant aimed at creating and testing a training curriculum and coaching model to support teachers use of communication and culturally responsive skills necessary to effectively engage all families in education.
