Posted in: NewsEarlier this month (January 2022) Mizzou Academy was recognized as a Hometown Hero by New Chapter Coaching, a non-profit consulting and coaching group. Last year, our leadership team worked with New Chapter to develop and launch our current strategic plan. We were honored to be featured in their recent newsletter. Hometown Hero—Mizzou Academy
Housed in the University of Missouri’s College of Education and Human Development, Mizzou Academy is a blended, global school system. Mizzou Academy serves close to 8,000 students annually in its elementary, middle, and high school programs.
International Teaching and Learning Conference
Last month, the Mizzou Academy team hosted a teaching and learning conference for partner educators. The three-day conference included student presentations and performances by high school and middle school students in Brazil, a keynote by author and professor Dr. Todd Whitaker, curriculum sessions led by Mizzou Academy faculty, and a service showcase highlighting student leadership initiatives.
Executive Director, Dr. Kathryn Fishman-Weaver shared, “Our annual teaching and learning conference is a special occasion to gather together as a global learning community and explore what matters most in education. We were thrilled to learn with our partners, celebrate our students, and explore big questions about teaching, learning, and resilience.”
Expanding Access and a Resource for YOU
The Mizzou Academy mission statement reads: with a focus on innovation and access, we develop partnerships and build educational programs to honor students as they grow toward their individual potential and solve global challenges. Over the past 18 months, their team has worked diligently to mitigate educational disruptions and expand access to students both locally and globally.
One open-access resource they continue to develop and expand is their Learning Library. This resource library includes modules on essay writing, wellness, technical literacy, and more. Best of all, it’s available for anyone to use at any time. Check out the modules here.
