The CCC is housed in the Department of Educational, School and Counseling Psychology (ESCP) within the College of Education at the University of Missouri (MU). The Coalition was established in 1998 as a part of the Department’s focus on diversity, where faculty and students could develop unique and innovative multicultural programs. The activities in the Coalition have furthered our Department’s commitment to being a nationally recognized leader in diversity. Specifically, ESCP is rated among the top psychology departments in the nation and in 2000 was recognized the program’s excellence in providing multicultural training and research by honoring it with the Suinn Minority Achievement Award by the American Psychological Association. In 2011, the Coalition for Cultural Competency was recognized for its efforts to prevent prejudice and increase multicultural awareness, knowledge and skills at MU and throughout the community. The Coalition won the Columbia Values Diversity Award.
